              PASSPORT SERVICES:

Step1Passport application has to be filled online at the following link: https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in/

Step2: Take appointment here https://www.eoibudapest.gov.in/page/appointment-for-visa-consular-passport/ and submit documents at Embassy. In view of COVID-19 pandemic, document submission can be done from 10am to 12:30 pm Wednesday & Thursday.

Documents can only be collected between 4pm to 5pm from Monday to  Thursday (except on Embassy Holidays).

Integration with Global Passport Sewa Project (GPSP) 

Embassy of India, Hungary is now integrated with the Global Passport Seva Project (GPSP) of the Ministry of External Affairs.  Applications for passport, PCC, Emergency Certificate, Surrender of Passport, Renunciation and Miscellaneous passport services are required now to be submitted online.  Applicants should register and fill in their applications at either of the following URLs : https://portal6.passportindia.gov.in/Online/index.html or https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in/  

 After opening the URL, applicant should first choose the region and country from where he wishes to submit the application and complete the registration.  Once registration is completed, applicant may choose the relevant service, complete the application form and submit. 

Applicant should then schedule an appointment at https://www.eoibudapest.gov.in/page/appointment-for-visa-consular-passport/ and visit the Embassy for completion of the process

General Information

  • Indian Passports are now normally issued with a validity of 10 years (except in the case of children up to the age of 15 years where it is issued for a validity of 5 years). Their re-issue thereafter involves the issuance of a new Passport. 
  • Wherever any changes are required in personal particulars pages of the passport or due to change in appearance, a new passport needs to be obtained as the practice of hand written endorsements in the existing passport no longer exists. Re-issuance of passport will be required if there is change in any entry printed on the passport or to be added on the passport, insufficient pages or in case of passport lost/damaged. Therefore, in all above circumstances only a new passport can be issued.
  • A new Passport can be issued one year before final expiry or on final expiry of any Passport issued for full validity of 10 years(5 years in the case of minors)
  • Machine Readable passports must be obtained immediatelyif you are holding a handwrittern passport.
  • Passport must be surrendered immediately at the nearest Indian Embassy if you have acquired foreign nationality.
  • It is an offence under the Passports Act, 1967 to knowingly furnish false information or to suppress material information when applying for Passport Services.Unauthorized possession of passport constitutes an offence punishable under the Indian Passports Act, 1967. 
  • If the passport is lost, the matter should be immediately reported to Local Police and nearest Indian Embassy.

Photograph, to be uploaded and submitted, should be as per the following specifications:

  • The image should be 2 inches by 2 inches;
  • The image must have adequate brightness and contrast, white background;
  • The skin tone should be natural.  In case of over-exposure or under-exposure of the photo, the skin is either too dark or too light, photo will not be acceptable;
  • It should show a close up of the head and (partial) shoulders and both ears;
  • The image should be straight looking, centred with neutral expression;
  • Face should be in sharp focus and clear with no ink marks/creases/lines;
  • The face (from forehead edge to bottom of chin) should be 70 to 80% of the photo or one inch height;
  • The eyes must be open and no hair obscuring the face;
  • Prescription glasses if worn should be clear and thin framed and should not have flash reflection or obscure the eyes;
  • Head coverings, hair, head-dress or facial ornaments should not obscure the face;
  • The photo must have plain white background;
  • Head coverings are not permitted except for religious reasons, but the facial  features from bottom of chin to top of forehead and both edges of the face must be clearly shown.
  • Photograph/Signature not in conformity with the requirements shall be rejected causing unnecessary delay in the preparation of the passport.

Documents Required at the time of Submission of passport application:

  1. After online submission of Passport application,  the Print out of the passport application, Self-attested photocopies of required documents and photographs have to be submitted to the Indian Mission. The required documents are :-   
    (i) Print out of the online submitted passport application
    (ii) Copy first and last page of current passport.   
    (iii) Copy of valid Residence Permit and Address card issued by Hungarian/Bosnian Government.  
    (iv) An Employment certificate from your employer/Student Certificate from University for students
    (v) One photograph to be pasted on the form and two photographs to be submitted separately.
    (vi) Please provide a photocopy of the apostilled marriage certificate (original to be presented for verification) and passport of spouse (original to be presented for verification) for inclusion of the name of the spouse; if not entered in passport earlier. 
    (vii)Divorcees applying for a change of name are required to furnish the divorce decree authenticated by the Court (if the divorce decree is issued by the local Hungarian/BosnianCourt, it should be apostilled by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary/Bosnia)
    (viii) Copy of Birth certificate and Annexure ‘D’ Annexure-D-for-Minor-applicant.pdfin case of minor along with the copies of passports of parents. In case of new born child, kindly bring minimum 4 photos of the baby and two sets of copies of all documents.

    (ix) FIR with Hungarian Police is needed in case of Lost Passport case
  1. For change of name Partial/Full: The applicant should submit copy of gazette notification or two newspaper clippings and two public documents issued in the changed name.  The two public documents may be issued either by Indian government, including state government, School certificates or local government/local school documents in respect of applicants living abroad.   2.  For change/add Surname due to marriage kindly provide affidavit. Proforma is attached ANNEXURE_D_NAME_CHANGE_AFTER_MARRIAGE_151116.pdf
  3.  To be present in person for submission of application. Signature on the application must be put before Consular Officer.  
  4.  Fee has to be paid at the Embassy in cash in Hungarian Forint only, fee is mentioned below.
  5. As per the instructions from our Ministry, passport is issued after obtaining fresh Police verification report from India and process may take upto 6 weeks from the date of submission of application at Embassy, subject to its receipt from the Ministry. Other Passport related Services

Police Clearance Certificate (PCC), Surrender certificate & other Miscelleneous certificates based on passport:

  • Fill in the Application form available at https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in/
  • A letter addressed to the Embassy stating reason behind application for PCC/such certificate. 
  • Passport in original 
  • Copy first and last page of current passport.   
  • Copy of valid Residence Permit and Address card issued byHungarian/Bosnian Government.  
  • An Employment certificate from your employer/Student Certificate from University for students
  • Two (2) recent passport size colour photos with white background. 
    • Photograph/Signature not in conformity with the requirements shall be rejected causing unnecessary delay in the processing of PCC application.
  • Fees, as mentioned below, has to be submitted in cash
  • For Surrender Certificate: 1. Those who have acquired foreign nationality after 01.06.2010 may apply for Renunciation Certificate online on the Ministry of Home Affairs (Foreigners Division) website https://indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in/
    The applicant has to click on “Declaration of Renunciation of Citizenship under Section 8 of the Act Made by a Citizen of India who is also a Citizen or National of another country”

    Applicants need to upload these documents on MHA portal:-
    Indian Passports including expired one (Please upload both front and back page of the passport), address proof (utility bill, bankpassbook, extract from municipality etc).
    2. Those who have acquired foreign nationality before 01.06.2010 may apply for Surrender Certificate on the link https://portal6.passportindia.gov.in/Online/index.html
    3. For minors also please apply for Surrender Certificate on the link https://portal6.passportindia.gov.in/Online/index.html apart from mentioning names in parents application.

  • NOTE: As per the instructions received from our Ministry, PCC can only be issued after obtaining fresh Police verification report from India.

 Emergency Certificate:

Emergency Certificate is a one way travel document to enter India, which is issued to an Indian national whose passport has been lost / stolen / damaged and to whom new passport cannot be issued. The final decision of issuing an Emergency Certificate is subject to a detailed examination by the Embassy. It may be noted that confirmed air tickets are required for issue of Emergency Certificate, copy of passport, copy of visa, 04 colour photographs of size 2 inches x 2 inches and Police report for lost/stolen passport. Application form has to be filled here and bring print out of it: https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in/ . Fees, as mentioned below, has to be submitted in cash.

OPEN HOUSE MEETINGS AT EMBASSY / GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL

An “Open House” on the first Monday of every month from 1500 hrs – 1630 hrs will be held at the Embassy. Any person with a petition or unresolved issue, including consular or visa issues, that he/she would like to raise, is welcome to attend the “Open House” as scheduled above. In case the Embassy is closed on that day due to an official holiday, then the Open House will be held the following day at the same time.
