Ambassador paid a special visit to the beautiful city of Balatonfüred on the shores of Lake Balaton—the largest lake in Central Europe and a historic anchor for India-Hungary relations.

• Meeting with Leadership: A productive meeting with the Mayor of Balatonfüred, discussing the enduring friendship between our nations.
•  Paying Respects: Floral tributes at the bust of Rabindranath Tagore along the iconic Tagore Promenade.
•  Walking Through History: A visit to the State Hospital for Cardiology, where the Nobel Laureate stayed and recovered in 1926. It was here that Tagore wrote in the guestbook: "I have seen almost all the countries of the world, but I saw nowhere such a beautiful lake."

The Ambassador and the Mayor discussed extensive plans to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Tagore’s visit in 2026. ​We are preparing a series of grand events to showcase Indian culture, art, and philosophy to mark this centenary. 2026 will not just be a look into the past, but a celebration of the vibrant future of India-Hungary friendship!
