Mr. Anshuman Gaur joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2001.
Before assuming the charge as Ambassador of India to Hungary, he served as Chief of Protocol of India (Oct 2022 – Sept 2025); Deputy Chief of Mission of India and Cd’A in the Indian High Commission in Ottawa, Canada (Sept 2019 – Sept 2022); as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs (Jun – Sept 2019); as Private Secretary to Union Minister of Law & Justice and Electronics & Communications (Dec 2017 – June 2019); Director (Europe West) in the Ministry of External Affairs (Aug – Dec 2017); Officer on Special Duty to the Vice President of India (Apr 2015 – Aug 2017); Counsellor (Economic and Commercial) in Indian Embassy Paris, France (Aug 2012 – Apr 2015); First Secretary (Political) in Embassy of India Kathmandu, Nepal (Aug 2009 – Aug 2012); Officer on Special Duty (Press Relations) - (Aug 2008-Aug 2009) in Ministry of External Affairs; Under Secretary (Bhutan) (Apr 2007 – Aug 2008) in Ministry of External Affairs and as Second Secretary at Permanent Mission of India to UNESCO in Paris (Aug 2003 – Apr 2007).
He studied Geology in University and has a Diploma in Computer Applications.
His published works include Isthmus of Time (Poetry) and Anthology of Contemporary Poetry. He follows cricket, squash and soccer.
He speaks English, French and Hindi.
He is married and has two daughters.
