About International Day of Yoga

The International Day of Yoga (IDY), proclaimed by the United Nations, highlights the universal appeal and holistic benefits of yoga in promoting physical health, mental well-being, and harmony between mind and body.

Observed every year on 21 June, this global initiative brings together communities worldwide to embrace a healthier and more balanced lifestyle. Yoga, as an ancient Indian tradition, continues to inspire collective participation in pursuit of wellness and harmony.

The 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 will further emphasize yoga's contribution to individual and societal well-being.

The Embassy of India, Budapest, through the Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Centre, invites yoga institutions, community organizations, universities, and individuals to participate in IDY 2026 activities across Hungary.

Main Celebration

The main celebration of IDY 2026 in Hungary will be organized by the Embassy of India, Budapest and the Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Centre in collaboration with the Hungarian University of Sports Science. The Hungarian University of Sports Science is one of Central Europe's oldest and most prestigious sports science universities.
