Magyar Posta - alkalmi bélyegkisív kibocsátás - Mahátma Gandhi 150

2019. február 21-én a Magyar Posta alkalmi bélyegkisív kibocsátásával emlékezik meg Mahátma Gandhiról születésének 150 éves évfordulóján.
Mohandász Karamcsand Gandhi, híveitől kapott tiszteletnevén Mahátma Gandhi (jelentése: „nagy lélek”) jogász, politikus, India spirituális vezetője, aki az erőszakmentességet hirdetve vált az indiai függetlenségi mozgalom vezéralakjává. 1869-ben született Brit India Gudzsarát államában. Kizárólag békés eszközökkel küzdött céljaiért, az önmegtartóztatást, megbocsátást és szeretetet hirdette. Neve egybeforrt a béke keresésével és szeretetével. Születése napját 2007-ben az ENSZ az erőszakmentesség világnapjának nyilvánította.
A bélyegkisív 40.000 példányban, Domé Eszter grafikusművész tervei alapján a Pénzjegynyomda Zrt.-ben készül. Megvásárolható lesz a Filapostán, a filatéliai szakszolgálatokon, egyes postahelyeken és www.posta.hu-n.
A bélyegkisív négy azonos bélyeget tartalmaz, melyeken Mahátma Gandhi „namaszté” köszöntéshez összetett kezekkel látható. Az alkalmi borítékon és alkalmi bélyegzőn megjelenő grafikák szintén rá jellemző tevékenységek: gyaloglás és fonás közben ábrázolják. Utóbbi azért is különleges, mivel ő maga is font, és ösztönözte a mesterségek, köztük a házi szövés-fonás újraélesztését.

On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Magyar Posta is issuing a commemorative miniature sheet in Hungary on 21 February, 2019.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who was known to his followers by the honorific name Mahatma Gandhi (meaning “great soul”), was a lawyer, politician and spiritual leader of India, who became a key figure in the movement to achieve Indian independence through non-violent protest. He was born in the state of Gujarat in British India in 1869. He sought to achieve his aims only through peaceful means and advocated abstinence, forgiveness and love. His name is synonymous with the quest for and love of peace. In 2007 the United Nations declared Gandhi’s birthday to be the International Day of Non-Violence.
Forty thousand copies of the miniature sheet designed by the graphic artist Eszter Domé were produced by the printing company Pénzjegynyomda Zrt. The miniature sheet will be available from Filaposta, philately specialist services, certain post offices and www.posta.hu .
The miniature sheet to be issued on 21 February contains four identical stamps on which Mahatma Gandhi is giving a namaskar, the greeting of respect made by pressing the palms together. The first day cover and the special postmark likewise depict Gandhi conducting activities typical of him: walking and weaving. The latter is interesting as he himself wove and encouraged the revival of traditional crafts in India including weaving.
