Farhan, Rádzsu és Rancsó mérnökhallgatók az egyetemen. Farhan csak az apja kedvéért jár ide, Rádzsu szegény családjának akarna segíteni, Rancsó pedig kitűnő tanuló, aki imád mindenféle gépezetet. Hárman jó barátokká válnak és elfogadják Rancsó hitvallását, miszerint a tökéletességre kell törekedni, nem a sikerre. Ám diplomaosztójuk napján Rancsó köddé válik, és barátai éveken át hiába próbálnak nyomára lelni.
Rajkumar Hirani filmje az indiai filmtörténet egyik legnagyobb sikere. Bemutatásakor minden rekordot megdöntött, és éveken keresztül volt minden idők legnagyobb bevételét hozó bollywoodi filmje. A mű számtalan díjat kapott, köztük a legjobb film, a legjobb rendezés és a legjobb forgatókönyv Filmfare-díját.
Farhan Qureshi and Raju Rastogi want to re-unite with their fellow collegian, Rancho, after faking a stroke aboard an Air India plane, and excusing himself from his wife - trouser less - respectively. Enroute, they encounter another student, Chatur Ramalingam, now a successful businessman, who reminds them of a bet they had undertaken 10 years ago. The trio, while recollecting hilarious antics, including their run-ins with the Dean of Delhi's Imperial College of Engineering, Viru Sahastrabudhe, race to locate Rancho, at his last known address - little knowing the secret that was kept from them all this time.
Upon release, the film broke all opening box office records in India. It was the highest-grossing film in its opening weekend in India and had the highest opening day collections for a Bollywood film. It also had the record for highest net collections in the first week for a Bollywood film.The work received numerous awards, including the Filmfare Awards for Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay.
