Naina (Deepika Padukone) szófogadó, szorgalmas egyetemista lány, aki soha nem mondana ellent a szüleinek. Összefut rég nem látott barátnőjével, aki épp a Himalájába készül túrázni, és ekkor rá kell jönnie, hogy az élete nem állhat csak tanulásból. Hirtelen felindulásból megszökik otthonról, hogy csatlakozzon a számára kalandot és izgalmat jelentő kiránduláshoz. A túrán részt vesz a vagány Bunny is (Ranbir Kapoor) a haverjával, és a négyes életre szóló barátságot köt az együtt töltött idő alatt.
Nyolc évvel később azonban ezt a barátságot egy esküvő teszi majd próbára…
Az író-rendező Ayan Mukerji a Wake Up Sid című filmmel mutatkozott be 2009-ben. Második rendezése, a Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani a 2013-as év egyik legnagyobb kasszasikere volt, egyben minden idők hatodik legnagyobb bevételt elérő bollywoodi filmje. A kivétel nélkül grandiózus dalbetétekkel telezsúfolt sikerfilmben még Madhuri Dixit is feltűnik egy látványos item-song erejéig!

Naina (Deepika Padukone) is an obedient, hard-working college student, who never would contradict her parents. She bumps into a long lost friend, who is preparing to hike in the Himalayas, and then she realizes that her life cannot include only studying. Out of passion she runs away from home to join the trip full of adventure and excitement. In the group there is a wild boy called Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor), with his friend, and the four persons become friends for a lifetime during the time spent together. However, eight years later, this friendship will be trialed by a wedding…
The writer-director Ayan Mukerji made a debut with Wake Up Sid in 2009. His second film, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was one the top box office hits of 2013, moreover the sixth Bollywood film that had gained the highest income. In this successful film, full of grandiose songs without exception, even Madhuri Dixit appears in one of the spectacular item-songs.
