Visit of Hon’ble Minister of Jal Shakti

Honourable Minister of Jal Shakti Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat visited Budapest on October 14-17, 2019 at the invitation of the Hungarian side. He participated in the Budapest Water Summit 2019 and delivered a keynote speech at the Inaugural Session of the Summit. He also addressed a Press Conference with the President of Hungary.
2.Honourable Minister had very fruitful interactions with H.E. Mr. János Áder, President of Hungary as well as with Minister of Agriculture Dr. István Nagy, Minister of Interior Mr. Sándor Pintér and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Mr. Peter Szijjarto. The discussions during these meetings focussed on strengthening cooperation in areas pertaining to water management, waste-water treatment, technologies and new inventions pertaining to the areas of water and its ancillary matters. It may be mentioned here that India and Hungary had signed an MOU on water management in 2013.
3.Honourable Minister also undertook some site visits including some prominent water treatment facilities in and around Budapest, and interacted with exhibitors participating in the Expo of the Budapest Water Summit.
4.The visit of the honourable minister of Jal Shakti to Hungary provided a strong impetus to bilateral relations between two countries, especially focussing on increasing economic cooperation and partnership in the sector of water.
