Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar,the inventor of the popular ‘Pune Technique’ for Laparoscopic Radical Hysterectomy, visited University of Debrecen, Hungary on 30th and 31st May, 2018. He was invited by the university for the live demonstration of the same at department of Obstretics and Gynaecology. He was accompanied and assisted by Dr. Seema Puntambekar. Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar has transmitted live surgeries to 12 countries including Germany, England, France, Australia, Mexico, and twice to AAGL (American Association of Gynaecological Laparoscopy). He is the author of 5 books and Over 100 scientific research articles and is also a board member of AAGL. He has done the first successful uterus transplant in India and has brought a ray of hope to the childless families.
The symposium organised by Prof Robert Poka, Head of the Department of Gynaecology also hosted seminars by Dr. Dilip Kale, Laparoscopic Surgeon. He presented modern hysteroscopic techniques.
Dr. Shailaja Kale, M. D. FRCP; Professor of Department of Medicine, KEM , Pune presented her research on the theme 'Mother’s Obesity and Glycemia: Effect on Baby’ She also elaborated the importance of making young girls fit to be mothers in the job intensive modern family environment.
Dr. Jashanjeetsing of Gynaecology department coordinated the event very successfully.
Professor Asmita Wele, Ayurveda Chair was instrumental in organising the visit to University of Debrecen.
